Girls who like boys who look like girls.

Androgyny. It constantly bemuses and excites me how fashion makes its own rules and continues to push social and fashion boundaries. One particular area of this that has lately got me inspired is that of androgyny. Ive always had a secret attraction and fascination with beautiful boys who have incredible features, similar to that of a girl. I'm talking angular facial structures, tall and thin with longish hair. It gives them a mysterious appeal yet makes them seem superior and somehow untouchable. They are so far from the tough rugged manliness that we grew up with when we associated our ken dolls with the ultimate man! This new breed of man is soft and almost elf like. One particular model who is now one of the most sought after models in the world is Andrej Pejic, who closed the latest Jean Paul Gaultier show in full bridal causing a stir amongst Parisians. One would easily mistake him for a beautiful female model as his features are so feminine its almost uncanny.
Similarly, we fell in love with Agnes Dean not long ago with her tough, boyish looks, she brought an air of power and control. Power dressing has always been something that women could experiment with, putting their own flair on the man's classic suit, which transformed a woman into a position of power and leadership. This is not necessarily a new movement within fashion, it has been around for decades. However with the arrival and rise of Andrej, this movement is more prevalent than ever and helping to give fashion new meaning. Lets hope its here to stay!
Think its a girl? Think Again...

Harmony.

I almost feel over my feet as I took a double take of these 'Harmony' wedge boots in the Kirrily Johnson window the other day!! They are so amazing and perfect for winter. Ankle boots are the current staple for winter shoes and these babies with their wooden wedge heels and buckled straps put a smile on my face all day long! Thanks K.J.

Flares got Flair.

Every winter i find myself questioning...to flare or not to flare. I'm always blown away by celebs Rachel Zoe, Rachel Bilson and Kate Moss who have carried this trend so effortlessly season after season, however ive gotton so comfortable in skinnys over the years that the prospect of embracing flared pants seems both unusual and daunting.
However this year is different. Flares are back and in a big way, offering more style and sexiness than ever before. Inspired by 70s influences, catwalks across the globe are featuring wide leg jeans, pants and palazzo trousers. Im loving Lover's take on the flare pant with wide leg trousers in light weight comfy fabrics and Burberry Prorsums pre fall 2011 earthy colours. This is definately going to be the season where i re-embrace flares and play around with influences of masculine meets sailor meets 70s flower power...
